OLD SALEM Tavern

Depart: 9:30 AM – Meet in parking lot behind Denny's Restaurant at Exit 36 on I-77 (Turn east when you get off I-77)

 
To get a better appreciation of what is available in Old Salem, you should visit their website, www.oldsalem.org . We can only tell you how the trip is arranged. After you arrive, you can eat lunch and stroll the streets to get a feel for how people lived in the 18th and 19th centuries.
 

LUNCH: Old Salem Tavern – 11:30 AM

Entrée One : Moravian Chicken Pie: double crusted pie filled with chicken, served with gravy and sautéed vegetables

OR

Entrée Two : Moravian Style Meatloaf: a tender baked meatloaf smothered in gravy, served with Tavern-made mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables

Dessert One : Chocolate Amaretto Pie: dark and rich, with crust of chocolate wafers and ground almonds

OR

Dessert Two : Moravian Gingerbread: made with fresh ginger root and grated orange rind, topped with whipped cream (original Old Salem receipt)

Drink : Coffee, hot or cold tea or soft drink

Beer and Wine : can be ordered but you are responsible for this as a separate charge.

Price for: either entrée one or two, drink and dessert one - $18.57

Price for: either entrée one or two, drink and dessert two - $17.35

 

TOUR

The group ticket price is for a self guided tour of all buildings, gardens and includes admission to the Toy Museum and MESDA ( Museum of Early Southern Domestic Arts ). The MESDA only has guided tours of the rooms. The ticket will be good for Saturday and Sunday admission. One day tickets are not available this year. For those members who are going to just tour and not have lunch, I will give you your tickets as soon as we arrive. For those having lunch and tour, I will pass out your tour tickets at lunch.

We must know the number of members for each event in order to confirm our reservations for the lunch and group tour tickets by the Saturday, March 14 QCCC business meeting. The money for your individual reservations must be received by the Club Treasurer, Florence Prather , by Monday, March 16 . Please use the chart below to determine the amount to send to Florence for each individual member attending.

Tour only: $17.00 for each member

Tour & lunch with Dessert One: $35.57 for each member

Tour & lunch with Dessert Two: $34.35 for each member
